Bodywork withKahea
I've been practicing massage therapy since 2009. I actually fell in love with lomilomi during massage therapy school at Kapiolani Community College, and after I finished the program and got licensed, I was lucky enough to train under several traditional kumu.
Work With MeI tune into the body and listen closely for what it's asking for.
Rooted in lineage
I studied directly under two of them: Kumu Alva Andrews, where I learned Pa Ola technique, and Liana Uyeda, founder of Aloha Lomilomi, studying Aloha Lokahi Lomilomi and Lomilomi for the Spirit. Alongside that, I've taken workshops with other kumu as well, each adding their own layer to how I understand this work.
Since then I've kept building on that foundation: visceral manipulation and craniosacral work through the Upledger and Barral Institutes, and energy work including Signature Cell Healing and Reiki. But the deepest teacher has been experience itself, years of hands on people, learning what a body actually needs versus what a textbook says it should need.
Listening with more than my hands
What I'm best at, and what I love most about this work, is the intuitive side of it. I tune into the body and listen closely for what it's asking for, then follow that as closely as I can.
That listening isn't only physical. I can often sense what's happening energetically and spiritually too, including emotional weight someone may be holding onto that's showing up as tension or pain in the body. Attuning to a person that fully, and helping them actually feel something shift, is the part of this work that means the most to me.
Alongside lomilomi, I bring cupping and microcurrent point stimulation with the Dolphin Neurostim into sessions, adding them in wherever they're useful.
